- Vistrian (real name: "Nicolae") Roman was born in the Dej township, son of an Ortodox priest with several sons and daughters. He studied drama and became a very popular actor, first in the Theater Alexandru Davila in Pitesti, then in Teatrul Mic, Bucharest. His best known parts were in Jean Giraudoux's "The Madwoman in Chaillot" (the Mediator), Alan Ayckbourn's "Between Us, English Folks", known as "Pluralul Englezsc" (Lord Ronald Brewster-Wright), Paul Everac's "The Counter Reader" (titular role), Dinu Säraru's "Some Peasants" (Dumitru al lui Dincä), Paul Cornel Chitic's "Grumbling" (Geanä), Aldo Nicolaj's "La Signora e il fonctionnario" (titular role), Mikhail Bulgakhov's "Master and Margarita" (Pontius Pilate). He also played in many TV plays, movies and shows. He never married, but he sired two children, Alexandru and Diana. After the 1989 revolution, following a conflict with the new executive director of the theater, Visarion Alexa, he moved to Cluj-Napoca, taking two jobs: as an actor at the local National Theater, and as a drama professor at the Babes-Boylai University. Unfortunately, the abusive policy of the theater's director, the actor Dorel Visan, led him to despair, ultimately causing his death of a stroke, after one month of agony in intensive therapy.
